People will love this. Even though I don’t.
Danmark (Ole Tøpholm), gav 12 poäng till Benjamin Ingrosso:
This is modern Eurovision, and it includes the Swedish choreography machine when its very best. It is one of the best songs in the Melodifestival in recent years. Benjamin is also an impressive compelling performer. This song is the best and most obvious choice for Sweden. Again this year a Top 5 for Sweden.
Irland (Garrett Mulhall), gav 12 poäng till Felix Sandman:
My Mamma always told me to speak the truth and it will set you free. Well I have to say that this is by far the weakest Melodifestivalen that we have seen for many years for a number of reasons. The standard of songs overall is not up to the usual standard that we expect from Sweden. Nano and Wiktoria would have won this competition with their songs from last year.
At the end of the day all it takes in ONE song to be great to win the contest. Having heard what other other countries are sending it is certain that Sweden will NOT be winning the contest this year. However 1 song I think could give them a good result and that is Felix Sandman.
His song ’Every Single Day’ is simple, stripped back and sincere. He has a good voice, knows how to work the cameras and he’s easy on the eye. Just as an observation – don’t you think he looks like the younger and less hairy armed brother of Benjamin Ingrosso? It’s all that floppy hair.
I like the song and the simple staging of the song but I would tell Felix to ditch the hairdryer mic – it looks ridiculous and takes up half the screen when there are closeups. I know we all love a good wind machine of a blow (ohhhh) but even Carola would object to this mic! He could possibly take Sweden to the final and maybe scrape a Top 10 finish but I think that is the best you Swedes can hope for this year.
Lycka till, Sverige – Du behöver det!
Malta (Emil Calleja Bayliss), gav 12 poäng till Felix Sandman:
Every Single Day is a song that in its simplicity will connect to the masses. The raw emotions the song transmits should make the song an instant hit. The staging doesn’t need to be complex at all, and considering there are no LED-screens this year in Eurovision, this song would surely benefit as all it needs an intimate environment to show case the pure emotions the singer interprets in his song. I do believe that this song has the right formula to not just do well at Eurovision but also do well outside the competition because it’s current. I think Sweden could easily get another Top five-result with this number.
Ryssland (Daria Syrkova), gav 12 poäng till Benjamin Ingrosso:
I have to admit that Ingrosso has the best chances to bring Sweden the highest possible result this year thanks to attention catching staging. Song itself is not that great but Eurovision is all about the whole package and Ingrosso has the best one. But I should say that similarity between Martin Almgren and Ed Sheeran combined with a really good tune also gives chances to A Bitter Lullaby to place high and be aired on radio across Europe.
Spanien (Adrián Valiente Magán), gav 12 poäng till Felix Sandman:
Being one of the poorest Melodifestivalen finals for years but still Sweden got 12 songs that still show what Mello is all about and why it has been treated as the strongest national selection for ESC in recent years. Despite having Jessica Andersson as my personal favourite, I think that Felix or Benjamin Ingrosso is what Europe totally expects from Sweden to do well at Eurovision.
Felix would be following what Frans made two years ago with a simple and touching performance which works amazingly well in camera, many performances have proved that simple is best and Felix would get it right for sure in Lisbon. When it comes to Benjamin, I personally believe that the whole thing itself is a bit empty, but still builds a whole and full pack regarding to its effective staging and modern and contemporary entry performed by a young and appealing artist, which could hit the radio charts all around the continent.
The answer now lies on which of them would fit best for a contest which is already contemplating a wide variety of different music styles from all over Europe. Do your thing Sweden and choose wisely!
Storbritannien (Luke Fisher), gav 12 poäng till Felix Sandman:
It’s a pretty hideous selection to be honest. I would have given top marks to Benjamin Ingrosso, because it’s by far the best staging, but I think the actual song is quite forgettable. For a TV show the number is really good as looks like a music video, and that usually does well. But the stronger song is ”Every Single Day”. It may well end up being similar to others in the competition, but with a largely Swedish production team in Lisbon you can be assured that SVT will get the staging they want. I really can’t see anything worthwhile for Eurovision beyond those two.
Tyskland (Juergen Boernig), gav 12 poäng till Martin Almgren:
When I watched the Semi Finals Martin Almgren’s voice and song attracted my attention. ”A bitter Lullyby” is the song that Martin brings accross very well and is very energetic. It has a melody and a text the audience can sing along with.
Ungern (Ervin Juhász), gav 12 poäng till Margaret:
After listening to all of the songs, there were three acts which managed to stay. Mariette and Benjamin I remembered mostly for their great stage performance, but Margaret was the only one who’s song I remembered as well. ”In My Cabana” is fun, very catchy, decently sung (with the help of the backing vocalists), and it is very easy to memorize. This is why I think this song would be the one to score the best result for Sweden in Lisbon this year. But I still wouldn’t rule out Benjamin or Mariette either for their great performance – in all fairness Robin Bengtsson’s song wasn’t that great either, and his performance got him to 5th place in the end…
Ukraina (Konstantin Hudov), gav 12 poäng till LIAMOO:
I do believe Eurovision needs something different and Liamoo stands for that. Would be interesting to see how Europe vote for this non-typical Eurovision-entry. Sweden got strong male acts this year but I’m surprised with poor quality of female entries. Bring back Loreen please!
Österrike (Manuela Tifning), gav 12 poäng till Renaida:
This lady is going to smash it – love her attitude, her voice, her song and the staging. It is also a very good song to shake your ass off at Euroclub!
